How the joint works
Two disks only, at the very bottom and very top, their rims flush with the blade outer (rope) face. The rim notch is only this deep; the matching open rebate on each blade end leaves an outer tongue of the same width that drops into it. A threaded rod through the centre holes (not drawn) bolts the disks toward each other and clamps the cage. Minimum 1 mm. Kept below the blade width so the disks stay behind the rope face.Readout
